Scott Lake Level Structure & Baylor Road Culvert
Baylor Road - Failed Culvert
In 1962 the Scott Lake Level was established at 678.5' elevation. The lake level structure was installed in 1962 as part of the Baylor Road culvert installation. As a result, the structure was incorporated into the culvert as one overall structure.
Recent inspections and development of sinkholes in Baylor Road above the culvert have shown that the corrugated metal pipe is failing. Since the culvert and lake level structure are combined they will both need to be replaced. The lake level structure will be separated from the culvert under Baylor Road so future issues don't occur.
The project is a joint effort between the Van Buren County Road Commission and Drain Commissioner. Since Baylor Road is the only road in and out of the area several meetings have been held with area officials and emergency services to coordinate this project.
