Sauk Trails RC&D Council

The Sauk Trails Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Area Council is a four-county natural resources organization which works to conserve and develop the area's natural resources and to aid economic prosperity in rural communities.

In order to meet these goals, the Sauk Trails RC&D Area coordinates numerous local projects, writes proposals and grants, prepares site drawings and designs and assists in obtaining funding for various projects.

Sponsors of the Sauk Trails RC&D are the four County Boards of Commissioners (Allegan, Berrien, Cass and VanBuren) and five County Conservation Districts. The Area is directed by a nine-member council representing the sponsoring organizations. Organized in 1974, the Sauk Trails Area contains 1.7 million acres.

The Sauk Trails RC&D Council is a locally organized and directed program of conservation and rural development. The Council is a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3)of the IRS Code. Many local agencies and organizations work together to complete local community projects.
