Is anyone aware of a Thanksgiving dinner for the needy near Lawrence and Paw Paw?
I'm a widower and my family is out of state and I'd like to volunteer to help others. |

We just moved to Almena four months ago. We live at 42561 CR 653, I think it used to be called,"The Aldrich House",or something like that. I was wondering if anyone might have, or know of any history on this house. It was built in 1890. Thanks. |

What are your opinions on the County Commissioners cutting back on the Transit Buses? They are cutting the buses from 14 to 6. It is a shame as they were warned 3yrs. ago that they would need a millage. But the Comissioners did not listen. So, now our elderly and diabled people of our county has had their bus ride times cut and not being able to be picked up at all, however Mental Health clients have not had any cuts. The Director of Mental Health sits on the Transit Board. Could this be a conflict of interest? The elderly and disable depend on these buses as do some school children. I am a former driver for VB transit and I live in the county. and I think it is a real problem and we should let the Commissioners know how we feel. Thanks for listening... |

| D.A.R.E cut out of the Sheriff office's budget. I wanted to express my feelings about how important our DARE program is, I believe one of our most important priorities should be preventing our youth from doing drugs. If we can stop them now we have a much better chance of not having to deal with them when they are adults. I realize that VBCSO may be low on funds but cutting the DARE program is not the soloution. Thank You for reading |

| Where is Van Buren County Full time Veterans Service Office? | | 0 Comments | |
|
| Lawton Has a Federal Office building beside the Post Office. It is empty. The government would supply training at no cost to VanBuren County. Currently a veteran must travel to Kalamazoo to seek help and benefits or go to Battle Creek. I find it difficult and have had my own terrors of redtape comming home disabled.I currently have 5 veterans on my block that has no clue as to what a veteran is entitled. One has just recieved 100% total disability from my help. 3 are awaiting paperwork and they will recieve comp and pension for injury in Iraq as well. Why must Vanburen county veterans seek help else where? |

| Prisoner Release | | 1 Comment, Last Post on 11/13/2006 11:39:47 AM | |

After this week's Paw Paw car jacking, is something going to be done releasing convicted criminal's into our community upon jail release?
I feel that a prisoner should not be released without transportation arrangements, either provided by themselves or the county. As a tax payer, I have no issues with my tax funds applied toward moving criminals out of our community in a safe responsible manner.
We do not need criminals wandering the streets of our community, without their everyday ammenities, looking to rob anyone at the first chance possible.
I would like to see this go in front of the county commission. I know this happens in every county seat community, but we should control it.
Within one mile of where this crime happened, we have three police agency's ranging from city to state government, all failed to prevent this. It is embarrassing to this community. |

| Arlington Township, Lack of meeting minutes posted online. | | 1 Comment, Last Post on 7/6/2006 7:45:20 PM | |
|
This post is because I was searching online to find the meeting minutes of Arlington Township board of commisioners, and all I found online was a description of thier history and the topics with no links to relevant information. This is in violation of the Open Meetings Act of 1976, and the Freedom of Information Act. For this reason alone you can start a petition to dismiss the current Arlinton Township Board of Commisioners. I urge you to consider taking action.
