Berkshire Paw Paw Development (former Shopping Center site)
Berkshire Paw Paw is a proposed $9 million +/- mixed use development with 60 residential units and 6,000 square feet of commercial space fronting Michigan Avenue. The developers are seeking housing tax credits as part of the financing for the development. These tax credits are very competitive. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) awards tax credits following a comprehensive scoring procedure. Berkshire Paw Paw may know by March/April 2014 whether or not their proposal scored well enough to be funded. If funded, it is possible the former shopping center demolition would begin in late 2014.
